The Illinois Municipal Utilities Association bestowed this year’s Public Service Awards on Illinois State Representative Lance Yednock and Illinois State Representative Charlie Meier. The award recognizes officials who have demonstrated ongoing support for public power and municipal utilities.

Yednock represents the public power towns of Ladd, Oglesby and Peru in the General Assembly. He serves on the Public Utilities Committee and is the Sub-Chairperson on the Natural Gas Subcommittee. He was supportive of the interests important to municipal utilities during the crafting of the Climate Bill of 2021.

In Meier’s district sit the public power towns of Breese and Highland. Meier advocates for the Prairie State Energy Campus and the jobs it brings to the area and appreciates the reliability and the affordable energy the plant brings to the grid. He serves as an Assistant Republican Leader in the Illinois House and is a member of the Energy and Environment Committee.
