About the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association
WE PROVIDE TOP NOTCH TRAINING, ADVOCACY, and MUTUAL AID ASSISTANCE
The Illinois Municipal Utilities Association (IMUA) is a nonprofit service organization that represents Illinois municipalities that own and operate public utility systems. We bring together energy professionals with similar needs to create a synergy of support and resources.
We provide information, training and professional representation ensuring our member municipalities can generate and provide safe, efficient and reliable power to the residents who depend on them.
Through the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association, members have access to:
Top-Notch Training Programs
Our training programs are specifically designed to meet the unique needs of municipal utilities as well as obtaining compliance with various regulatory requirements.
Legislative Advocacy
We provide a comprehensive legislative and regulatory program filled with information and hands-on representation.
Mutual Aid Program
IMUA coordinates a mutual aid program between members for disaster recovery and emergency assistance.
Scholarships
IMUA’s scholarship program recognizes outstanding young men and women in our member communities and increases awareness of the value municipally owned utility systems bring to their communities. We have awarded nearly 100 scholarships over the last twenty years, totaling more than $50,000, to help pay post-secondary education costs for students from our member communities.
Education
IMUA provides ongoing communications and information-related resources, including a quarterly newsletter, annual membership directory, bi-weekly updates and various association-wide communications products.
